How Ionic Hair Dryer Finds Edge Over Non-Ionic Hair Dryer ?
Hair dryers have long become an intrinsic part of our everyday routine. The relatively recent introduction of hair dryer diffusers contributes greatly to their usefulness. With the advancement in the technology, we can have different types of hair dryers.
We shall discuss here, the two well known kind of hair dryers and these are ionic hair dryers and non ionic hair dryers. As is the case with any other thing around us, these too have merits and demerits.
Earlier when the ionic dryers were available in the market, people used to use only the non ionic hair dryers only. But with the onset of ionic dryers, non ionic appliance grows older and conventional. Since, the non ionic appliance involved drying hair with simply the heat, the ionic ones hold an edge over them. Ionic dryers include warmth air with the negatively charged ions. These help in retaining the hair moisture.
Manufacturers of ionic hair dryers claim the dryers speed up drying time over non-ionic models due to the delivery of both warm air and negatively charged ions. However, in a study undertaken by the Good Housekeeping Institute, no significant difference in the drying time of ionic and non-ionic hair dryers was found.
The good housekeeping institute and the users are in agreement with the producers of ionic dryers that these give a shine to the hair, because these dryers use lower heat and cause less harm whereas the non ionic dryers cause considerable harm to the hair.
With the increase in shine of the hair, the shaft of hair becomes more flat and smooth. This prevents damage to the hair. This claim of the makers of ionic dryers is consented by the users as well.
Hair dryers come in a wide range of prices. Generally, ionic dryers are more expensive than non-ionic ones. “Good Housekeeping Magazine” compared several models and found that although some were as expensive as $300; its favorites were in the $20 to $25 range.
However, one thing that is common between the two dryers is, as with any electric product that will be used near a water source, care must be taken that the electrical cord not comes in contact with water. Always hold the dryer by the handle, never by the barrel which can retain heat.
